2019 Highlights

POLICY
2019– Educator Workforce Investment Grants (EWIG) was approved by the California State Legislature to build capacity throughout the state to implement the comprehensive California EL Roadmap Policy. Legislators earmarked $10 million to fund the EWIG grants. CABE received one of the grants and developed the impactful Multilingual California Project (MCAP) in partnership with five county offices of education (Butte, Fresno, Orange, San Bernardino, and San Diego) and one university partner (San Diego State University).

PROGRAMMING
CABE programming focused on the annual conference, paraeducator and parent conferences, summer DLI confernece, parent and family engagement, I3 Grant Implementation focused on parent and family leadership, Project 2 INSPIRE, Plaza Comunitaria, Community Engagement Initiative, NPD grant on dual language immersion, immigration support training, CABE Professional Development Services (CABE PDS), Binational GLAD, building partnerships, legislative advocay, and providing support for bilingual programs.
